For stationary radiographic and radioscopic equipment, COMET offers solutions from 100 kV up to 450kV , while for portable systems our unipolar, or end-grounded, inserts range from 160 kV up to 300 kV in both directional beam and panoramic beam versions.

Non-Destructive TestingCOMET's reputation for high quality reliable products was forged in the NDT market and nearly all the tubes we make have been used in this demanding application. While low volumes of small products may call for low kV and smaller focal spots and conversely the high volumes of large parts need high kV and bigger focal spots, nevertheless the trend we see is to higher and higher levels of automation. And COMET has the solution already!
Our new MXR-160HP is the forerunner in high focal spot loading, with 1000 Watts from the small focal spot (d=1mm). This is nearly double the performance of any other competitor and the COMET technology can be applied right across the COMET product range.
New DevelopmentsSince the invention of the X-Ray tube in 1895, the ratio between focal spot size and power has not improved significantly.
COMET has achieved a breakthrough in this historical relation with its new High Power (HP) technology. The HP family of X-Ray tubes has nearly doubled the power density of the conventional fixed-anode X-Ray tube.
The Benefit of Hp InnovationsToday, COMET offers tubes based on HP Technology in the range from 160 kV to 450 kV.
- Higher power with the same focal spot size. With higher power, shorter exposure times are necessary. The result is higher throughput through the inspection process.
- Smaller focal spot at the same power. Previously, when striving for finer resolution, the customer had to sacrifice power (and thus throughput) to achieve a smaller focal spot. You must no longer suffer this compromise.
- Longer tube life. The anode of an HP tube runs at lower temperature.
